Welcome. I’m Kimberly, owner of Tactics Matter. I’m a proud Texan, the mother of two remarkable young men, and the widow of LCDR Gregory Ballenger, USN, one of my heroes. Raised in Corpus Christi, TX by a strong and inspiring woman, I am deeply committed to helping make our community and surrounding areas safer for generations to come.
I began Tactics Matter from a need that I saw within our community. As women our nature is to be loving and nurturing to those that we have been given charge to care for. When we have the desire to protect without the necessary tools to protect, we feel loss. God has given me the ability to fill this void and to help empower women and I am humbled. Many days after a training session I wonder who is the teacher and who is the student. I gain so much from my “students”, their lives and their stories. I am truly blessed beyond measure!

Women's Protector Series:
Gain the confidence, skills and peace of mind to protect yourself and those you love. Whether you're new to firearms, already licensed to carry or focused on home defense, you'll learn in a welcoming, judgment-free environment designed for women.
Basic Pistol Courses:
Whether you're new to firearms or looking to sharpen your skills our Basic Pistol Courses build the confidence, knowledge and practical skills you need to protect yourself and those you love. Choose from women-only or coed classes led by experienced instructors committed to your success.
Texas License to Carry (LTC):
Your Texas License to Carry is more than a permit it's confidence, preparation and peace of mind. Train in person, online or through a private class. If you've already completed the classroom portion online, we'll guide you through your required range qualification so you can complete the process with confidence.
